Since I got my cast off Nath, Meags, and An came over for some wine and celebrations. We sat around, gossiped, look at old Cleve's pics, and drank. We missed you Jan! We made some plans for the year starting with great wolf lodge in November, Vegas in Feb, and Chile in Oct!!
Debi's Achilles recovery
Ballerina, RN, long distance runner, traveler, yogi and recovering from an achilles rupture tear. This is my story and I'm taking the non-surgical route. I'm sharing my journey since there aren't many of us out there who have taken the "conservative" option.

THE BOOT
I had my final cast removed today! We were at the doctors forever but in the end they put on a walking boot. They joked around with me for a bit saying they didn't know how many weeks it had been and if I was ready for the boot. Funny doctors who understand my personality. The casting tech put on my boot and told me to take a couple steps. I was so scared! But I did it and Ty took a video on his phone. The med student working with the doctor told me I should incorporated my walking boot into my Halloween costume. I told her I had planned to. I was going to be a drunk drivers victim. I also asked the male casting tech if I could wear skinny jeans under the boot. He didn't know what skinny jeans were so the med student and I explained it to him. He figured it was OK! But all other looser pants go over top. They don't want my leg moving in the boot. I immediately came home and took off the boot off to wash and shave my leg. My leg hair was super long so I went through two razors and it took about 20 minutes. Then I took a towel to my leg and I think at least five layers of skin came off on the towel. I put on half a bottle of moisturizer and put my boot back on to walk around the house. I have to wear another shoe on my foot to even out my hips. Since the boot goes outside and inside I wash it off every time I enter the house. I hate dirt. Here are pictures from the day!
Mom is just about to pick me up and take me to Leigh my physio who will be my best friend for the next 4 months. It will be painful but good for the foot. Mom and I are then going shopping at Dixie Value Mall!

Birthday
For my 29th birthday Ty took the day off so I didn't have to stay home alone with my blue cast. That is what I've been doing for the last 7 weeks of my life. Here are some pictures from the day!

Roxy dropped it off today! It is done, FINALLY DONE!
Tomorrow is the last cast change and big stretch appointment. I will let you know how it goes...
Wedding
On Sunday Ty and I were invited to Adriane and Jermey's wedding at the Rosewater Supper Club. It was a beautiful wedding. It was cocktail style so a bit difficult as most of the time I was sitting and people were standing so my neck was a bit sore from looking up. I got special VIP treatment with all the seniors to take the secret jail like elevator to go between floors. I also got some great comments on my matching cast and dress!
